Jewels grew up listening to Motown, soul, rock and roll and old Trojan records. At a young age she began playing drums and song-writing and then turned her attention to singing and playing guitar. As a young teenager she was writing and recording songs in her bedroom and used it as a way to escape and express herself spiritually. Since then her path has always been around reggae, soul, blues, ska and R&B music and she began singing with the sound system Jah Lion from Reading when she was 19. At 22 Jewels started her own female sound system called ‘Shee Sound’ playing roots and dub music. During this time Jewels was also fronting the reggae rock band Burnt Lychee before going on to form bluesy soul reggae band 'Jewels and the Jacuzzis'. Jewels is currently working on bringing out an album of her own songs which will be available soon.
